The history of the Kladruber dates back the House of Habsburg, part of the Holy Empire, 1579AD, with the imperial stud founded by
the emperor of Habsburg, Rudolf II in Kladruby Bohemia, Czech Republic.
Originally bred as galakarossier or imperial carriage pulling horse,

The Kladruber is the oldest Czech Republician breed and among the oldest known breeds in the world.
Originally kept in a wide range of colours, however through time the set colours of black and gray were predominantly bred, the gray colour Kladruber being mostly ridden by Law officials the black coat being ridden by church officials.
Keeping in mind the Holly Empire was in charge at this point in time and with the Austrian crown taking over after the Dissolution of the Holy Empire many of the Black Kladrubers were killed.
The Kladruber is considered a rare breed with on around 1000 individuals owned world wide, with at least 500 of them being owned by the original breeding stud
